Planning a Service Project

  • Plan a variety of events. All members have different interests. Try to plan different events based on these interests.
  • When planning projects the first thing you need to do is determine the need. This will give you project more focus and make it more worthwhile.
  • Select a location for the project or set up with another organization to work with. Make sure you contact someone to make sure you can use the location.
  • Get all the details together and make sure all your members know what is going on. If you are working with another organization make sure to stay in contact with them so that both sides know what is going on.
  • Know how many members you will need for the project and if you will be able to have enough there.
  • Know an approximate time frame for the project.
  • Make sure all members have transportation to the project. Carpooling is a good idea - just make sure all drivers know where they are going. You may want to allow extra time for travel and if people are late.
  • Do you need any materials or equipment for the project?
  • Publicize the project with signs about 1 or 2 weeks prior to the event.
  • Contact everyone who is supposed to attend a couple of days before the event to remind them.
  • HAVE FUN!!!!
  • Record your service hours and send them to your service chair and secretary.
